Freedom and giving back… As we approach the Fourth of July I am reflecting on how much I value the freedoms that we are blessed with as part of this great country! I think back to many childhood memories that have shaped who I am today.
Growing up in St. Louis, I experienced the Fourth of July VP fair, a series of community celebrations that culminated in an amazing free concert. I had the opportunity to see Elton John free of charge at one of these celebrations. I would also often attend the St. Louis zoo with family and friends on this holiday weekend. Again, the zoo is an amazing community asset in St. Louis and one of the top 10 zoos in the country, free of charge. As I got older, I started to wonder why these kinds of experiences and these freedoms were free. It is because of the amazing generosity of the businesses in St.Louis that contribute and give back to strengthen the community and make a difference. I believe that these experiences and the role modeling of my family, Anheuser-Busch, and other St. Louis businesses contributed greatly to why giving back is baked into who we are at Hearth and Soul. Our monthly non-profit partner program is a great source of pride for all of us, and we are continually amazed by the people who work tirelessly through these causes to help others in the community.
