Back to school…Oh the memories! I so remember all of the decisions involved…What school, what location, when to start and all of the preparation that goes in to these important milestones.
I also remember the relief for Mom and Dad when the kids are back in their safe and happy place and days are freed up for important home, work, and Mom and Dad time. We were so very fortunate to be able to start our first Tripp, at Advent half days three days a week when he was two. I met many friends who are still friends today in Tallahassee through that process. Fast-forward to Faith Presbyterian Preschool and then Maclay where our kids stayed from kindergarten through graduation. So many blessings attached to those years. And yes, tears too…I remember that first day of drop off in kindergarten where I left Tripp on the playground, kicking the dirt in circles…I remember trying to help ensure different teachers for the kids so that they would not be always compared to each other, but allowed to grow as individuals. I remember the early mornings of school field trips and yes, even having a miscommunication with our Babysitter Ketty, about who was picking up our son only to have him left on the curb with no pick up one day…yikes. I would say that the term “it takes a village” holds true during all of these years and beyond. I am so grateful for my village!
